They also put her in a tank one-and-a-half times smaller her natural habitat.
Fortunately, in 2022, the new owner of Miami Seaquarium pledged to work with a group of Lolita advocates called Friends of Toki and the Lummi tribe, who consider her to be a family member and plan that would eventually take her to the open water. The plan would have included a sanctuary in Washington's west coast, where she could live for the rest of her life, receive human medical care and be monitored by researchers.
